The Coffee Trade Information

Walking into The Coffee Trade at 21 W Main St, Avon, CT 06001, United States feels like dropping in on your favorite neighbor’s kitchen - if that kitchen happened to have an impossibly good espresso machine and baked goods that smell like sunshine. From the moment you step inside, the warm aroma of freshly roasted beans greets you, and it’s honestly half the reason I find myself planning excuses to come back here. The location is tucked into Avon’s charming downtown, making it a perfect stop whether you’re running errands, meeting a friend, or need a change of scenery from your home office.

The first thing that strikes you when you approach the counter is the friendly chatter between baristas and regulars, which sets the tone for a relaxed yet lively atmosphere. The menu at The Coffee Trade isn’t overwhelmingly large, but it’s curated with clear intention - thoughtful espresso drinks, pour-overs that highlight nuanced flavor notes, and seasonal specials that never feel gimmicky. I tried their nitro cold brew on a warm afternoon, and it was silky, bold, and refreshing without a bitter edge. A friend ordered a flat white and couldn’t stop talking about how smooth and balanced it was, noting even subtle hints of caramel sweetness.

More than just great coffee, the pastry selection here deserves its own praise. The almond croissant was perfectly flaky, with just the right amount of buttery tenderness to make it feel indulgent without being heavy. Another visit brought a slice of lemon loaf that was so bright and zest-forward I found myself daydreaming about it later. Pairing these treats with a cappuccino made the whole thing feel like a mini celebration rather than just a quick break.

Service here consistently feels warm and personal - the kind where the barista remembers your order if you come in a couple of times in a week. I’ve also seen team members patiently explain different coffee origins and brewing methods to curious customers, which adds a layer of education to the experience that elevates it beyond a typical coffee run. It’s clear they take pride in what they serve, and that passion translates into reviews you’ll hear locals and visitors alike share when talking about their favorite spots in town.

The simple yet inviting interior, paired with the hum of conversation and the clink of ceramic mugs, makes The Coffee Trade feel like a hub of community. Whether you’re craving a rich latte, an expertly brewed cup of coffee, or just a cozy corner to relax in, this place delivers a memorable experience that keeps you coming back for more.

What People's Say About Place

The experience starts before you even get inside with the smell of roasting beans. Inside is friendly, welcoming, passionate staff offering a huge variety of hot and iced drinks on adorably hand-illustrated cards hung above the order counter. An assortment of locally made sweets are there to tempt you into deliciousness. Enjoy their decadently smooth coffee amongst their wares - the longer your eyes linger amongst the antiques, the more gems you'll notice! Couldn't help but get some beans to go: chocolate covered espresso beans, a pound of one of their light roasts, and a couple single-pot-sized samplers of their flavored coffee beans! They've been around since 1989 for a reason, folks! They're the real deal!

A charming and unique spot with an impressive collection of antiques. It’s clear they have a loyal customer base — and it’s easy to see why. The coffee, lattes, and baked goods are all excellent. What’s more, they offer their own line of coffee beans and even have a coffee club, which I’m definitely interested in exploring further. A delightful find worth revisiting.

This place is unique and chic. It opened in 1985; there are 80 varieties of coffee beans. Not only do they serve coffee, tea, and coffee beans, they also sell antiques. They roast their coffee beans right onsite since 1989. The employees were friendly and service was great. They had so many flavors to choose from. The latte list was super extensive. I got my honey latte and it was perfection. We sat at one of the tables in the back and enjoyed our drinks and pastries; I got a cranberry scone and my son had a cookie. The flavors were fresh and the prices were super affordable compared to other coffee spots. This is definitely going to be my new go to coffee shop in terms of value and quality!

This is a place for premium coffee and tea! Plus, there are a variety of items for sale that you won't find anywhere else: beautiful colored glass birds to hang in a window, kitchen towels, toys, glassware, etc. There are antiques in another room. So, you can run in and get the best coffee or tea, provided by the most friendly staff, or you can browse at the colorful items for sale. I drive a half hour to buy their fantastic Coffee Trade coffee. It is delightful and comes in many flavors. The roasting of the beans are done right in the store....wonderful aroma! During the holidays, they are open 7 days a week. Otherwise, they are open M-Sat. RTE 44, Avon.

The most comfy cozy spot. The feeling you get when you first see the Bilbo Baggins house in Fellowship of the Ring, that's stepping into Coffee Trade. I showed up planning to buy a bag of coffee quickly and go, and now I regret that. I'll have to come back ready to go at a slower pace and really take my time to enjoy the place.

Great coffee and antique shop in Avon Connecticut @coffeetradeavon ! It’s full of cute little things. If you are a coffee lover then you can smell fresh roasting coffee beans and see the process. Cute areas to sit out and in. Coffee, walnut danish and brownie is good! Must try spot in CT. #connecticut #avon #ctgem

I work not too far from here and often smell the beans roasting, but I never had the chance to stop in. Today, I visited for the first time, and I'm so glad I did. The owner was very kind and took the time to explain the different types of available coffee, even providing a sample based on my preferences. There are two rooms in the back where you can relax and enjoy your coffee while browsing antiques for sale. There is also an outdoor seating area. I got an iced dirty chai, which was excellent and perfectly sweet. This will be my new spot for coffee beans and a delicious drink. You can't beat the prices, and there's enough variety to keep everyone happy.

I have been going to the Coffee Trade for years. Aside from being outstanding people they have the best coffee around. They roast it in the shop and it's always fresh. I like dark roast and their Mexican dark roast is my favorite. I also get French roast decaf and you can't tell it's decaffeinated by the flavor. They will grind your coffee any way you want it. Their prices are very reasonable especially considering the quality of the coffee.
